Welcome to the Pack: A Message from the Founders

A Personal Journey: My Love Affair with the Cane Corso

To the devoted guardians, breeders, and admirers of the Cane Corso,

Welcome. My name is Arnie Hill, and as one of the founder of the Cane Corso Breed Club, I want to share not just our mission, but the heartbeat behind this organization—a heartbeat that echoes the noble spirit of the breed we all cherish.

My journey with the Cane Corso began over two decades ago, when I brought home a timid, brindle-coated puppy named Nero. At the time, I had no idea how profoundly this loyal guardian would reshape my life. Nero was more than a pet; he was a teacher, a protector, and a mirror reflecting the resilience and dignity inherent in this ancient breed. Through him, I discovered the Cane Corso’s unparalleled blend of strength and sensitivity, power and grace. But I also witnessed firsthand the challenges these dogs face: misconceptions about their temperament, irresponsible breeding practices, and a lack of resources for dedicated owners.

It was this duality—the awe-inspiring legacy of the Cane Corso and the urgent need to protect it—that inspired me to establish this club. Today, I invite you to join me in honoring these magnificent dogs and ensuring their future for generations to come.

    Our Mission: Preserving a Legacy

The Cane Corso Breed Club exists for one purpose: to protect, promote, and celebrate the Cane Corso as a breed of distinction, integrity, and companionship.

    Our mission is threefold:

    1. Preserve the Breed’s Heritage: Uphold the Cane Corso’s historical role as a versatile working dog while maintaining breed standards that prioritize health, temperament, and functionality.
    2. Educate and Empower: Provide owners, breeders, and the public with the knowledge needed to raise happy, healthy Corsos and combat harmful stereotypes.
    3. Foster Community: Unite Cane Corso enthusiasts worldwide to share wisdom, advocate for the breed, and celebrate its unique qualities.

This is not just a club—it’s a movement. A movement rooted in respect for the past and responsibility for the future.

Core Values: The Pillars of Our Club

Every great endeavor is built on a foundation of principles. Ours are simple but unwavering:

    1. Integrity
We champion ethical breeding practices. This means prioritizing health screenings (e.g., hip/elbow evaluations, cardiac exams), transparency in lineage, and a commitment to placing dogs in homes prepared for their needs. Profit must never outweigh the welfare of the breed.
    2. Education
Knowledge is power. We strive to equip owners with resources on training, nutrition, and health care, while educating the public to dismantle myths that label Corsos as “aggressive” or “dangerous.”
    3. Community
From seasoned breeders to first-time owners, every voice matters. We believe in collaboration over competition, fostering a supportive network where questions are welcomed and experiences are shared.
    4. Advocacy
We will tirelessly oppose breed-specific legislation (BSL) and media sensationalism that threatens the Cane Corso’s reputation. Advocacy begins with showcasing these dogs as the loyal, intelligent companions they are.
    5. Compassion
Every Corso deserves a life of dignity. We support rescue initiatives, promote spay/neuter programs, and prioritize the emotional well-being of these sensitive dogs.

Strategic Goals: Building a Brighter Future

To turn our mission into action, we’ve established clear, actionable goals for the next five years:

    1. Create a Global Network of Responsible Breeders
      • Develop a breeder directory with strict adherence to health-testing requirements.
      • Offer mentorship programs pairing novice breeders with seasoned experts.
    2. Launch Educational Initiatives
      • Publish free, accessible guides on topics like puppy socialization, advanced obedience, and managing prey drive.
      • Host webinars featuring veterinarians, trainers, and behaviorists.
    3. Amplify Rescue Efforts
      • Partner with Cane Corso rescues to fund rehabilitation programs and promote adoptions.
      • Establish an emergency foster network for dogs in crisis.
    4. Host Inclusive Events
      • Organize regional meet-ups, conformation shows, and working trials to celebrate the breed’s versatility.
      • Introduce “Corso Kids” workshops to teach children safe, respectful interactions with dogs.
    5. Combat Breed-Specific Legislation
      • Build a legal defense fund to challenge discriminatory laws.
      • Collaborate with animal welfare organizations to promote breed-neutral policies.

Join Us: Together, We Are Stronger

The Cane Corso Breed Club is more than an organization—it’s a family. Whether you’re here to deepen your knowledge, connect with fellow enthusiasts, or contribute to the breed’s preservation, your role is vital. Here’s how you can get involved:

    • Become a Member: Gain access to exclusive resources, event discounts, and a private forum to connect with experts.

A Final Word from the Founder

When I look into the eyes of a Cane Corso, I see centuries of history—Roman soldiers, Italian farmers, and modern families who’ve been blessed by their devotion. But I also see the future. A future where these dogs thrive not just as pets, but as ambassadors of strength, loyalty, and love.

This club is a promise to the breed we adore: Your legacy will not be forgotten. Your voice will not be silenced. Your worth will not be diminished.

Thank you for standing with us. Together, let’s ensure the world sees the Cane Corso not as a “dangerous dog,” but as a noble guardian, a cherished companion, and a living testament to the power of responsible stewardship.

    Welcome to the pack.
